Pedestrian dies after being hit by a lorry near Karkala

Karkala: August 11, 2015: A pedestrian died following a collision with a lorry near Sri Krishna Petrol Bunk in Belman on Monday.



The deceased has been identified as Jaggu, resident of Belman.


According to the sources, the accident occurred when Jaggu was trying to cross the road. The over speed truck which was going toward Padubidri from Karkala hit Jaggu when he was in the middle of the road. The impact of the accident was such that Jaggu was thrown for several feet and lorry overturned. Jaggu was critically injured in the accident.

The locals arrived and rushed the injured to a nearby hospital.

A case has been registered in Karkala Rural Police Station.

The accidents increase day to day. The truck driver’s reckless driving is responsible for accidents. The driver has to be taken to charge and his licence should be cancelled.
