The chief minister’s assurances came shortly after the visit of S. A. Anand, the chairman of the State Organic Farming Mission, to the place where Mr. Patrao and his supporters were holding their indefinite hunger strike. After the chief minister gave his assurances, Mr. Patrao decided to call off the hunger strike on its 25th day.

Reportedly, the CM gave his assurances after viewing the video clippings of the demolition of Mr. Patrao’s house by the KIADB officials and the reports of the incident collected by Mr. Anand during his visit to Mangalore. The CM immediately called up Mr. Patrao and assured him of his support and assistance in the matter. Later the CM also called Regional Commissioner Jayanthi to organize a probe into the matter.

Mr. Patrao said that he is hopeful of getting justice after speaking to the CM and has therefore decided to withdraw his strike.
