Moodbidri, Nov 15, 2015: Panchami Maroor, an eighth standard student of Jain High School Moodbidri, is an exceptional talent who is a versatile Yakshagana artiste, dancer and singer apart from being a meritorious student and a sports talent.
This multi-faceted talent received the ’National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement- 2015’ from President Pranab Mukherjee at a ceremony held at Rashtrapathi Bhavan in New Delhi on November 14, Saturday on the occasion of Children’s day. Union Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi was among the several dignitaries present on the occasion. Panchami was one among the 30 talented children from across the nation who received the Award.
Daughter of Parshwanath and Deepashree, Panchami has also won the State Award given by the Karnataka Ministry for Women and Child Development. This Award was received on November 14 on her behalf by her trainer Sudesh Jain Makkimane.
Panchami has so far presented over 700 stage shows including hundred shows of ’Yakshagana Nritya Vaibhava’. She is the recipient of Best Expression Award in Zee Kannada’s ’Kuniyonu Bara’ programme and was adjudged ’Muddina Putani’ in the ’Putani Pantru’ reality show on Suvarna TV.
An NCC Army Wing Cadet, Panchami has so far been honoured by over 150 organisations.
