Panambur cops bust chain snatching racket; arrest trio

Mangalore, Oct 8, 2014: Three chain snatchers wanted in connection with over 12 chain snatching cases across Dakshina Kannada district as well as Kasargod have been arrested by the Panambur police on October 7, Tuesday. Gold ornaments weighing 400 grams and costing Rs 11 lakhs were seized from the accused apart from three motorbikes valued at Rs 3 lakhs, Mangalore Police Commissioner R Hithendra informed.
The Panambur police could zero in on the chain snatchers while investigating into the case reported on September 24 wherein her chain was snatched by two bike riders at Baikampady.
Those arrested are Mohammad Rizwan (23) from Bajal, Irshad (28) of Permannur and Zakir Hussain (23) from Mumbai.
The arrests were made by the Panambur police under the direction of City Police Commissioner R Hithendra and DCPs Vishnuvardhan and Jagadish.
