Pakshikere, Oct 29, 2011 : St. Jude Church at Pakshikere celebrated its annual festival enthusiastically on Oct 28 Friday. Dr. Percival Fernandes, the auxiliary bishop of Mumbai, presided over the festive mass with nearly 25 other priests at the shrine on Friday morning. Dr. Pius D’Souza, the superior of St. Joseph’s Monastery in Mangalore, delivered the homily.

Dr. Percival Fernandes felicitated Theresa Sequereira, an 80-year-old retired parish school teacher, as well as all the other chief donors of the annual feast during a formal stage ceremony held after the mass. Theresa Sequeira presented a cheque for Rs. 1 lakh to Fr. Joseph Maris, the rector of St. Joseph’s Seminary in Jeppu, as her contribution for seminarians.

The nine-day novena commenced on Oct 19 Wednesday and continued till Oct 27 Thursday. Fr. Alfred Pinto, the deanery vicar of Kinnigoli, conducted the first service. Fr. Dolphy Serrao Capuchin conducted a 3-day retreat from Oct 20 Thursday to Oct 22 Saturday.

The hore kanike was brought to the shrine on Oct 23 Sunday.

Fr. Alban D’Souza, the former priest of Pakshikere parish, presided over the Holy Mass on Confraternity Sunday. Fr. Denis Moras Prabhu, the diocesan vicar of Mangalore, was the main celebrant at the mass wedding ceremony held at the shrine on Oct 26 Wednesday. Fr. Joseph was the chief celebrant of the vesper held on Oct 27 Thursday.

Fr. Andrew Leo D’Souza, the parish priest of Pakshikere church, delivered the vote of thanks. A fellowship meal was served on Friday afternoon, marking the end of the annual feast.
