Padubidri: Auto drivers picket petrol bunk; accuse it of selling adulterated fuel

Udupi, April 7, 2015: Autorickshaw drivers of Padubidri picketed a petrol bunk in Padubidri on April 6, Monday evening alleging that adulterated diesel was being sold at the bunk.

During the protest, the autorickshaw drivers questioned the petrol bunk staff on the issue. It is said the agitated staff even tried to assault a journalist who was clicking photographs of the happening.

According to the protestors, an autorickshaw driver who had filled diesel in his vehicle tank from the petrol bunk on April 5, soon realised that there was some technical snag in his auto and took it to a garage. When the garage staff removed the diesel from the tank, it was found watery, it is alleged.

Later the autorickshaw drivers gheraoed the petrol bunk. It is learnt the petrol bunk staff even tried to snatch the cell phone of the reporter whom they tried to assault and abuse.

It is also alleged that there have been several complaints against the petrol bunk for selling poor quality fuel.

The journalist who was targeted by the petrol bunk staff has lodged a complaint with the Padubidri police.
