Padil corporator joins JD(S); dubs BJP leadership as ‘autocratic’

Mangalore, Feb 21, 2013: Mohan Padil, corporator from Padil ward  has quit the BJP to join the JD(S) on February 21, Thursday.


Speaking on the occasion, Padil said he had to quit the BJP hurt by the ‘autocratic’ rule of the BJP leaders.

He blamed the BJP leadership for his decision to quit the party. Claiming that he worked for the welfare of the people of his ward, he at the same time said the local MLA failed to sanction funds for the repair of the roads of the ward despite his plea. “Now though funds have been sanctioned, the election code of conduct is coming in the way, he added.


He also pointed out how  his complaint  with the BJP leaders regarding the encroachment of the NH at Alape by an influential person had yielded no result. On insisting, he revealed the name of the influential person and said "Dr Mohandas Bhandary encroached the NH land and also had installed a no-parking sign board at the site.”


Mohan Padil is expected to contest from his earlier ward as a JD(S) candidate this time.


Senior leader Nagaraj Shetty who also spoke, said  more and more people were inclining towards the JD(S) fed up with the misrule of the BJP. He promised that the JD(S) will give an opportunity to worthy candidates.


JD(S) member Sadananda Shetty projected as the  candidate from Mangalore South Assembly constituency, also spoke.


Several including Ganesh Mallya from Kavoor Marakada ward, Rohan D’Silva, Umesh Kunjathbail, K P Jagadish and N P Narayana also joined the JD(S).


JD(S) leaders   M G Hegde, Sushil Noronha, Aslam, Vasanth Baikampady, Gopal, Shashiraj Shetty, Sudharshan Shetty were present.
