Mangaluru, Nov 30, 2017: State Minister for Public Works H C Mahadevappa has informed about the proposal to merge the toll gates operating near NITK Suratkal and Hejamady. The National Highway Authority of India is expected to submit a proposal in this regard to the state government very soon, the Minister said while replying to a query from Mangaluru North MLA B A Moidin Bava during the winter session of the State Assembly.
Bava had earlier drew the attention of the minister towards the functioning of two toll gates within a range of five kms on the National Highway 66.
The Minister in his reply also said that the two toll plazas on the NH were temporary and the NHAI had already placed a proposal for their merger before the Chief General Manager of the Authority at Bengaluru.
The Minister even made it clear in his reply that it had been proposed long back to close the toll gate near NITK once the permanent toll gate at Hejamady starts functioning.
