Overcrowded bus creates altercation at Anandnagar

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Jul 27: A group of furious passengers, who were waiting to board Route No. 33 at Anandnagar, pulled out passengers who had already boarded the bus at Akashabhavana and assaulted them. Their grouse was that these passengers were given a free ride, as a result of which the bus was too overcrowded and that there was no place for them.

Simultaneously, passengers who had boarded at Akashabhavan said that they were forced to get off at Anandnagar and purchase tickets to State Bank once again. The police had to intervene to bring the situation under control.

Route No. 33, which plies along this route, used to stop at Akashabhavan. A few weeks back, it started plying to Anandanagar from Akashabhavan. The passengers at Anandanagar were angry when their bus arrived full of people who had boarded at Akashabhavan. They alleged that although a complaint was lodged at Kavoor Police Station, no action was taken on the issue.

Deepak Poojary, the Kavoor corporator, said that a meeting has been convened at the Akashabhavan angandvady centre at 5:00 p.m. to find solutions to this problem. The SI of Kavoor Police Station, bus owners, and 25 people from Anandanagar and Akashabhavan will participate in this meeting.
