Mangaluru, May 27, 2015: District BJP President Pratap Simha Nayak has exuded confidence that the BJP supported candidates would win the May 29 Gram Panchayat elections.
Speaking to reporters at the party office here on May 27, Wednesday, Nayak pointed out to a recent survey by a media which claimed that 91 per cent of people were satisfied with the Modi government and that 98 per cent were not satisfied with the Siddaramaiah government.
Referring to a statement made by a Congress minister that “Modi Magic will have no effect in the GP polls,” Nayak questioned if people would support a Congress government which is in a state of slumber.
On the lottery scam, the District BJP President said his party welcomed the decision to entrust the case to the CBI. However, the government rises to the occasion only when it gets a beating, he remarked.
He also charged that several unlawful activities including land, sand and timber mafia thrived in the state since two years.
Alleging that the people no longer have faith in the state government, Pratap Sinha Nayak said the same would be evident in the GP poll results.
Referring to the complaint filed by the Congress against the BJP regarding poll code violation, Nayak asserted that the party has not violated the poll code.
Capt Ganesh Karnik, MLC, Kumble Sunder Rao and other party leaders were present.
