Udupi, Oct 26, 2015: Speaking at the block-level Congress workers’ meet at Mudradi, Udupi District In-charge Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, who is also the Urban Development Minister, said that the BJP workers had been trying to create panic among the people regarding the report.

 

Sorake The State government has prepared a report in this regard, keeping in mind the public interest. It is up to the Central government to implement the recommendations of the State government. Even as the Union Environment Minister Prakash Javdekar has confirmed that the State government has submitted the report, Member of Parliament Shobha Karandlaje and other BJP leaders are misleading the people, Sorake has said, criticising the BJP leaders. The minister also accused legislator Sunil Kumar of misleading the public and added he takes credit for all good works undertaken and blames the Congress for every bad work. and declared that he accepts the challenges set by Sunil Kumar.

In Karkala, funds up to Rs 80 crore have been released for road, drinking water, vented dam and other projects. About 80 percent of the people living below poverty line have been provided with BPL cards, Sorake sai

The minister criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for spending Rs 4,500 crore for his foreign tours. The Prime Minister has undertaken 72 foreign tours so far. The Central government has funds for the foreign tours of the Prime Minister, but no funds for the drought-hit Karnataka. The State has sought Rs 3,000 crore from the Central government towards the drought relief measures,  he said.

Terming the Raita Chaitanya Yatre carried out by the BJP as a hoax played on the people, Sorake questioned why the MPs from BJP are silent over the drought situation in the state. It is only companies like Adani’s which have progressed because of Modi and the general public has not been benefited at all, Sorake said.

He meanwhile called upon the Congress workers to strive towards the success of the party in the upcoming taluk panchayat elections.  Karkala former MLA Gopal Bhandary also spoke. Hebri block Congress President Neere Krishna Shetty chaired the meeting. Zilla Panchayat member Mudradi Manjunatha Poojary, Taluk Panchayat member Vishalakshi Shetty, Mudradi Gram Panchayat President Shashikala Poojary and others were present.
