Deputy CM Ashwath Narayan, who also holds the higher education portfolio, made this announcement after several students and parents urged the government to conduct the exams online this year in view of the Covid-19 surge.

Students and parents have been constantly pushing for the postponement of the annual exams due to the surge in Covid-19 cases in the past couple of weeks. The Karnataka government has not made any announcements regarding the postponement of the exams yet.
College exams not postponed

The timetable for degree, post-graduation, diploma, and engineering examinations has been affected a bit due to the ongoing bus strike, the Minister said adding that the exams would resume immediately after the strike ends.

The Karnataka deputy chief minister has also announced recently that there will be no change in the schedule of the upcoming college and university exams and the academic activities of higher educational institutes will continue as per the official schedule.

He also said that after the conduction of the end-term examinations for college students, the new session will start immediately and there will be no summer break. This is being done to cover up the loss of the academic year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Physical classes would be started once the pandemic is brought under control, and the students will have the choice to either attend the offline classes or attend the classes from home in online mode, the state government has decided.
