Mangaluru, Apr 12, 2016: A lady tourist who had arrived from Belgium at the Mangaluru International Airport on April 11, Monday had to return disappointed as the airport did not have any mechanism to process E-visas.
The woman who had come to avail treatment at an Ayurveda Hospital in Udupi had an E-tourist visa which she had availed online and which enables her to stay in India for 30 days. But, the absence of the E-visa processing facility in Mangaluru forced the woman to return by a Jet Airways flight to Dubai at 11 pm. She had arrived by the same flight from Dubai at 7.30 am.
Currently E-Visa processing facility is available in Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, New Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram airports.
In a similar incident reported six months ago, a woman from Mangaluru who resided in USA had arrived with a E-tourist visa to meet a sick relative, but had managed to stay for three days as she had some influential relatives here.
