No 1 position in survey, corrupt result : former MLA Bhat

Mangalore Today News Network

Udupi, Mar 24, 2018:  Speaking to media persons March 23, Friday, former MLA Raghupathy Bhat alleged that the district  minister has paid money and secured himself the Number 1 position in the survey that was held to evaluate the MLAs in the state.   The BJP has charged that District In-charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj is a fraud who will deceive the voters and the party which has nurtured him.

MLA RaghupathBhat said that Madhwaraj has utterly failed as a people’s representative. “Madhwaraj has not fulfilled the promises he made in the election manifesto,” he said.

The BJP will surely welcome him as a primary member, but not as a leader. The BJP has sufficient number of leaders,” he said.

He said Madhwaraj is not clear in his stand in his recent interviews. He is confused and issues contradictory statements to the media, he claimed.

Alleging that the minister had assured BJP that he will be joining BJP shortly after his mother’s entry into the party, Bhat said that he has remained elusive. “Even now he is playing with the party which has given him everything,” he charged.

Bhat said Madhwaraj sold dreams to the people. He cited an example of Madhwaraj’s promise of renovating the existing district government hospital, but in vain. “Sadly, the condition of the hospital is deteriorating day by day and most of the patients who seek healthcare amenities are referred to the Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru,” he said.

The major blunder is that the government maternity and children hospital is sold to BRS Ventures and the hospital has been corporatised. The poor are deprived of the assured facilities and they have to avail of the treatment by paying huge amount, he charged.

Though Brahmavar as a taluk in 2013, the status was only accorded at the last minute as the polls are fast approaching, he said.

Bhat accused that Madhwaraj himself is responsible for the sand mafia which his own creation. The credit of making the lives of the laborers unstable goes to the minister, he charged.

The fee to be paid for trade licence h as been hiked and the municipal council, under the leadership of Madhwaraj, has failed to manage the water crises effectively. He claims that he has brought Rs 2,000 crore allocation to the district. But he has not disclosed the amount details and expenditure. Nagarothana scheme is another blooper as the projects are all failed to reach even the stage of inviting tenders, he claimed.

Bhat blamed the minister for the major corruption in the sports kit that was given to the various organisations in the state. The sports kit is of poor quality and has been purchased for less amount as against the amount mentioned in the record, he charged.
