New car and driving signals positiveness of 96-year-old city hero

Mangaluru, Feb 4, 2018: When 96-year-old Joe Gonsalves (96), the senior-most traffic warden in the city walked into Maruthi showroom to buy a new Maruthi DZire car, many were in for a surprise.

What is more surprising is that he is going to drive the car himself, as he has done for ages, thus proving that age is not a barrier for vehicle driving. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Hanumantharaya handed over the key of the new car to Joe at Mandovi showroom in the city. Joe was appointed chief traffic warden of the city in September 2015.

Quite interestingly, Joe has over 75 years of experience behind the wheels, driving not only in the city of Mangaluru but also in countries like England, United States and Canada. Mandovi Motors Director Aroor Sanjay Rao and several admirers of this hero at heart applauded his reliance.
