Mangaluru, Oct 27, 2015: State Minister for Forest and Ecology and DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai has informed that a statue of India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru would be installed at Nehru Maidan in Mangaluru.
The Minister was speaking to reporters on October 27, Tuesday after visiting Nehru Maidan to inspect the site meant for the installation of Nehru statue.
He said the statue will be unveiled on the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of Pandit Nehru. He further stated that steps would be taken at the earliest to erect a new fencing around Nehru Maidan.
Expressing his resentment over the lack of cleanliness in Nehru Maidan with the place littered all over, the Minister directed the officials to ensure cleanliness in the Maidan.
The minister was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim, Mayor Jacintha Vijay Alfred, Deputy Mayor Purushottam Chitrapur. MUDA Chairman Kodijal Ibrahim, MCC Commissioner Gopalkrishna and others.
