Nearly 188 Home Guards in DK inactive : SP Sudheer Kumar Reddy

Mangaluru, Nov 03, 2017:  Those who fail to  appear for duty despite registering as Home Guards should be dropped and new appointments should be made, said District Superintendent of Police Sudheer Kumar Reddy.

Addressing a meeting of Home Guards officers at the District Headquarters of Home Guards here on November 2, Thursday, he said of the 850 registered Home Guards, 188 are inactive. They should be dropped, he said adding those on duty must mandatorily wear the Khaki uniform and white belt.

District Home Guards Commandant Dr Murali Mohan Chantharu presided over the function. He said Home Guards are functioning in Fire and Emergency Services, Police Department, Prison  Department, RTO and other places.

Deputy Commandant Ramesh Kumar, Second in-command Mohammad Ismail and others were present.
