Namma Kudla Goodu Deepa contest on Oct 23

Mangalore, October 15, 2011: Kadri Navaneeth Shetty said at a press conference held at Press Club on Oct 15 Saturday that the 12th annual Goodu Deepa competition will be held at Kudroli Gokarananatha Temple on Oct 23 Sunday at 5:00 p.m.

Revealing further details, he said that the competition will be held in 3 categories—traditional, modern, and unique and that a gold medal will be awarded to the winners of the first and the second prize in each category. Consolation prizes will also be awarded for each category, he added. 

 

Those who wish to participate must register at the venue before 4:00 p.m. Participants are also required to bring required material such as wires, holders, bulb, and others. 

 

Each participant will also receive a box of sweets and a memento. A special prize will be awarded to the organization that brings the largest number of goodu deepas.

The prizes will be awarded at the valedictory ceremony, which will be held on the same day at 7:00 p.m. 

On this occasion, the Namma Tuluver Award will be conferred on Dr. Shantaram Shetty, the vice chancellor of Nitte University, the Namma Kudla 2011 Award will be conferred on dance guru Master Vittal, and the Bala Prathibe Award will be conferred on artiste Prihali. 

Chandrashekar Suvarna of Suvarna Arts Mulky and his team will present Tulunada Vaibhava and dance artistes such as Vibha Lakshmi, Dinesh Attavar, Jnaneshwari Joshi, Mayuri Ullal, and others will give presentations. Kasturi will present a music event. The entire event will be shown live on V4. 

Director Mohan Karkera, Leelaksha Karkera, and Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli were also present during the press conference.
