Udupi, Feb 13, 2018: Udupi  District In-charge Minister Pramod Madhawaraj said that Rs 74 crore worth road construction works are being executed under Namma Grama Namma Rasthe scheme in Udupi assembly constituency.

Speaking after inaugurating the road extending from the national highway 66 towards Krishi Kendra built at a cost of Rs 305.30 lakh here at Chantaru, the minister said that the basic infrastructural facilities should also be extended to the rural areas.

The roads should not be developed only in urban areas, but the roads in rural areas should also be developed to improve connectivity. He noted that the chief minister aspires to offer good quality roads and all other basic infrastructural facilities to empower the villages therefore emphasis is laid on the development of rural roads.

The minister maintained that Rs 74 crore is allotted for the development of rural roads in the Udupi Assembly constituency.

As many as 45 developmental works are being carried out. Of the total 45 works, 33 works of worth Rs 54 crore has been completed. He said that remaining construction works are underway and will be completed shortly. The rural roads will result in good road connectivity, he pointed out.

‘Pro-people governance’

Asserting that the government attempts to offer pro people governance and also to fulfil the pledges made during the poll manifesto. He took part in the foundation stone laying ceremonies and the inauguration of six roads built at the cost of Rs 21 crore. He also laid the foundation stone for the construction of two bridges.

The works include SC colony road at Ammunje taken up at the cost of Rs 40 lakh, road extending from Kemmannu Jyothinagara to Nejar taken up at the cost of Rs 167.10 lakh and Rs 226.10 lakh worth Nejaru Jangamabettu-Nidamballi-Bobbuswami temple stretch, road from Kukkude to Bobbuswami temple at the cost of Rs 40 lakh, road worth Rs 172.70 lakh from Chapparabettu to Mudabettu,  bridges from Karje Haluvalli to Inkladi taken up at the cost of Rs 375.80 lakh and Bayarabettu-Godanakatte to Kakkunje Gorapalli at the cost of Rs 299.30 lakh.
