Mangaluru, Nov 15, 2018: Following the demise of Union Minister H N Ananth Kumar, the BJP leadership is reportedly seriously contemplating to have one more minister from Karnataka in the Union Cabinet, more so with an eye on the upcoming elections. Sources reveal that either Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel or another senior leader Prahlad Joshi may make it to the cabinet.
It has been reliably gathered that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has discussed this issue with BJP Chief Amith Shah prior to leaving for Singapore. Sources said another MP from Karnataka may make it to the Union Cabinet in the second week of December, once the results of the assembly elections in five states are out.
Presently, the Union Cabinet has three ministers from Karnataka namely D V Sadananda Gowda, Ramesh Jigajinagi and Ananth Kumar Hegde.
The BJP had won 17 seats in Karnataka in the previous Lok Sabha elections.
