Mangaluru, Dec 25, 2015: A mobile App named ’winkl’ said to be the first of its kind in India, and is aimed at improving users’ experience by providing useful information for shopping purposes, has been developed by a team of students from the National Institute of Technology, Karnataka (NITK) at Suratkal.
The App enables the user to go on a virtual tour of a shopping mall or a street where he wishes to shop. Rahul Singh Thakur, a final year B.Tech student of NITK who is part of the team which designed ’winkl’ states that though online shopping was a craze among youngsters, still 90 per cent of shopping is done offline.
Apart from Thakur, Pratham Pramod, Supreeth Deshpande, third year B.Tech students and Nikhil Kumar, a final year B.Tech student have joined hands in developing this new App.All users need to do is to download this app from Google Play Store. The App offers information about latest arrivals, trending designs and recommendations.
When the user is at home he gets all the details regarding the shopping in a mall or a particular street and when he enters the mall the App will offer details about the shop where he would like to shop.
Information to the app is fed through a content team while the information is relayed to the user through the ’beacons’ installed at malls or streets.
As at present, the team has entered into a tie-up with Forum Fiza Mall in the city.
