Mangaluru, Jan 16, 2018: NITK Karavali Marathon 18 organised by NITKS Alumni Association (NITKSAA) at the NITK beach front received good response on Sunday.

The half marathon of 21-km with 78 participants was flagged off by Raghunandan 2003 Batch Alumni of NITK and Co Founder Of Taxi for Sure (Which was merged with OLA) .

There were 332 participants for 10-km event, 738 participants in 6.6-km category and 1026 participants in 3.3-km category. A total of 2,174 students and alumni and 146 outsiders participated in the event

A large contingent of men and women Marathon runners came from MRPL, doctor couple participated in the event.

The winners in half marathon are Rakshit Shetty (I, Rs 21,000 cash), Shashank K Pai (II, Rs 13,000 cash), and Ravi B (III, Rs 8,000 cash).

The winners in 10-km run for men are —Ashvin D’Silva (Rs 10,000), Prakrith (Rs 5,000) and Shreepath (Rs 3,000).

The winners in 10-km run for women are —Shivani R (Rs 5,000), Saraswathi (Rs 4,000) and Dr Prameela (Rs 3,000).

NITKSAA, are committed support a full marathon in the name and style ’NITK Karavali Marathon’ reaching all the way to Mangaluru/NMPT and back from next year onwards.

NITK Karavali Marathon will be thrown open to sponsorship from next year with options for title sponsor, platinum, gold and silver sponsorship opportunities. With the NITK Karavali Marathon, NITK Surathkal Alumni Association believes in promoting a healthier lifestyle among students of NITK as well in the greater Karavali region is getting the right impetus and awareness.
