Rendering the invocation on behalf of the Muslim community, Abdul Khader Darimi said that the tragedy united all the people of Mangalore, who forgot caste and religious difference in their grief and attempted to console one another.

Rev. Fr. Ravi Santhosh Kamath S. J. spoke on behalf of the Christian Community and said that 28 of the 158 people who died in the air crash were infants who were yet to see the world. He prayed for justice for all the victims and their families.

Speaking on the occasion, President Mohammed Beary said that everybody has gathered here to pay respects to the departed souls. Stating that it is impossible to get the deceased back, he said that one must do something for their souls to rest in peace. Expressing his unwillingness to blame the government or the AI authorities or the politicians, he said that the victims’ families have struggled a lot to receive adequate compensation.

B. M. Hegde, the senior cardiologist, presided over the event, and said that all the families who loved these victims can continue to love them because their souls will receive the love. The post plane crash incidents, the way in which people rushed to their assistance irrespective of religious and caste differences is a great example of communal harmony, he added.

He suggested that a communal harmony memorial should be constructed in Mangalore in honor of the dead. Criticizing the insurance company, he said that the insurance companies are working only for their benefits and urged the victims’ families to work in unity for justice.

Abdul Rehman Jeppu, the convener of the association, and N. A. Sulaiman, the co-ordinator of the association, and many others were also present. Treasurer Abdul Razzak delivered the welcome address and Vice President Kaligam Narayanan proposed the vote of thanks.
