Mudipu, Jeppu teams win ‘Pili Nalike’

Mangalore, Oct 5,2014: Kateel Ashok Raj and team won best ‘Marihuli’ award. ‘Best tase’ award was won by ‘Polali Appena Jokulu.’ Mudipu Games team won the prize in ‘Akkimudi throwing’ category while Jeppu Tiger camp won for best colour combination.

The SDM College was jam packed to witness the tigers pouncing and dancing to the tune of the rhythm. The contest which commenced at 10.30 am went on till 8.30 pm. To allow the spectators to watch the contest without any problem, a gallery was constructed.  District-in-Charge Minister Ramanath Rai who arrived when the last few teams were presenting their show said that there is a need to protect the tradition of Tulu Nadu. The competition should give priority to traditional dance.  He said that to encourage Tiger dance, the valedictory of Wildlife week procession at Bangalore will have Tiger dance team. There is a need to take the tradition to the statelevel.

District Youth Congress President Mithun Rai said that the competition has given priority to traditional dance. The competition was organised to bring back the tiger dance alive.  Mangalore North MLA Mohiuddin Bava said that Tiger dance is an integral part of coastal district. There is a need to support artistes through these competitions.
