Mortal remains of Belthangady-based army officer brought to Mangalore

Mangalore, Aug 15, 2012: The family members and friends of Belthangady-based Indian solider, who died in cross firing between Indian and Pakistani soldiers on the Jammu – Punjab border on August 13, Monday, mourned his death when the country celebrated its 66th Independence Day. 


The mortal remains of Krishnappa Gowda (30), the deceased soldier, arrived in a wooden crate by passenger flight today. His relatives, including his uncle Shyam Sundar and younger brother Prakash, received the body at Mangalore Airport.

Reportedly, the soldier died when Pakistani soldiers near the Indo – Pak border in Punjab opened fire on the night of Sunday. 


District-in-charge Minister C. T. Ravi, Deputy Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly, MLC Monappa Bhandary, ZP CEO Dr. K. N. Vijayprakash, MCC Commissioner Harish Kumar, DK SP Abhishek Goyal, and others paid homage to the departed soldier. 


Krishnappa Gowda (30) was a non-commissioned officer in the Indian Army. He married a lecture in Moodubidri 2 months back and left home after a month-long vacation last month. He had served in the Indian Army for the past 12 years and was recently promoted to the post of a non-commissioned army officer. His wife Latha is a lecturer in SKF Industrial Centre in Moodubidri.

 
Mr. Gowda hailed from Manjotty in Nada in Belthangady. He has left behind two younger brothers and two sisters.
