Monthly ’food adalat’ to rectify ration card anomalies

Udupi, Oct 25, 2014:   Speaking after inaugurating various development projects taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 25.65 lakh and laying foundation stone for the development projects at a cost of Rs 121.94 lakh in Perdur gram panchayat,   Minister for Urban Development Vinay Kumar Sorake has said that food adalat will be organised every month to set right the loopholes in the distribution of ration cards. A committee comprising ration card holders will be constituted to look into the anomalies in the ration cards.

The minister said that measures have been taken to curtail malpractices in ‘Annabhagya’ scheme and Goonda Act would be invoked against those who sell rice in black market. APL card holders will also receive food grains through PDS shortly.

A sum of Rs six crore has been released to Perdur in the last one year to take up development works. He said that he has directed the officials to visit all gram panchayats once in three months and listen to the grievances of the public. The government is committed to take up development works in the villages.

Sorake said that 4.21 acre of government land has been earmarked in Perdur to distribute sites among needy. The authorities have received 237 applications under Section 94 C of Land Reforms Act.

The title deeds for the applicants will be distributed in the month of November. He said plans have been chalked out to upgrade Perdur gram panchayat into town panchayat. Funds will be released to construct a bus stop in Perdur.

The minister added that henceforth 10 revenue adalats would be held every month for the disposal of pending applications.

The minister distributed 148 Anthyodaya cards, 469 BPL cards, three APL cards, revolving funds to eight SHG and Rs 6.15 lakh subsidy to 53 beneficiaries to construct toilets.

Later speaking at Kukkehalli, the Minister said that plans have been chalked out to set up a primary health centre at Kukkehalli.

Besides, a proposal has been prepared to construct a bridge across the road adjoining Parkala and Kukkehalli.  The PWD roads in Parkala will be attended to soon he promised.
