Udupi, Feb 14, 2016: Senior Congress leader and former union minister M Veerappa Moily has hit out at his political rival Janardhana Poojary by stating that there was no need to attach any special importance to the statements of aged leaders like Poojary.
Addressing the Press at the Kaup Congress Office, Moily said it was but common for old people to talk much. "They need not be taken seriously," said Moily. He was also critical of former CM SM Krishna for some of his statements.
He had a word of praise for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and said he was providing an able administration.
He also was appreciative of State Ministers Ramanatha Rai and Vinay Kumar Sorake and said the DK and Udupi districts were progressing under their leadership. He further struck a note of optimism when he said the party would win majority seats in the upcoming Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat elections.
Commenting on petroleum prices, Moily criticised the Union Government for not reducing the prices and passing on the benefit of the reduction of international crude oil prices, to the consumers. This has led to inflation, he added.
State Urban Development Minister and Udupi district in-charge Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, former MLA U R Sabhapathi, Kaup Block Congress President Naveenchandra Shetty and others were present.
