Mangaluru, April 15, 2016: MLC Mohiudeen Bhava demanded to withdraw the inclusion of pictorial warning up to 85% in Beedi packets as it affects beedi workers who are highly dependent in this coastal part of the state.

Addressing to the press at MCC today, Apr 15 he said that this issue has bring to the notice of MP and labor Minister  in order to rectify the issue and help beedi workers. This inclusion has highly impact on beedi manufacturers represent their brand in the packet.

He also said that, foundation stone will be led for the concrete road construction from Surathkal to MRPL stretch of 5 Kilometers. Foundation stone will be led by Chief Minister Siddarammaih who will be arriving to the district on 21st of April.

Road will be widened in the Surathkal area by vacating the scrap shops. Foundation stone will also be laid for new market at the central ground near Surathkal and temporary shops will be constructed for 85 shops located in the old market, said Bhava.

A new market at Surathkal is also on the cards. Its plan has been submitted to MCC and waiting for approval. A new swimming pool at the cost of Rs 1.50 crores will also be launched very soon,” he said.

The beedi workers are affected but they can be provided with any other alternative instead of ruining the life
