Modi govt has not implemented any welfare programme for poor: State Minister Anjaneya

Mangaluru, Jan 11, 2015: State Social Welfare Minister H Anjaneya has slammed the  Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Union Government and has alleged that the Government has failed to implement even a single welfare programme for the poor and farmers since the past six months.

Speaking to reporters at the District Congress office in the city on January 11, Sunday, Anjaneya charged the Union Government of favouring the rich and the capitalists while not doing anything for the cause of the poor and the Dalits.

Continuing, he said the Congress provided opportunities for people of all caste, communities and religions unlike the BJP which he said was for ‘Only one class and community.”

On the issue of appointing dalits as priests in Mujrai temples, the minister said efforts are underway and added measures would be taken after studying the issue from all angles.

Pointing out that the   Congress government in the state led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has implemented several welfare programmes for the poor and the backward classes  he said the government intends to bring about social justice.

He said the local Dalit Sangharsha Samithi has  sought funds for Ambedkar Bhavan construction in the city and added the Social Welfare Department would  bear the expenses towards the building.

 Ibrahim Kodijal, Interim President of District Congress, JR Lobo, Moidin Bava, Shakuntala Shetty, Legislators and other Congress leaders were present.
