Mobile phone thief arrested in Mangalore

Mangalore, June 10: The police have nabbed the person involved in stealing mobile phones on May 19 from a house near Shridevi College in Ballalbhag.

The arrested is Guru Kiran alias Kicchu (20) of Ullal. The police have also confiscated 3 mobile phones, PAN cards, driving licenses, credit cards, and Rs. 26,000 from him.

Niraj Kumar Singh was not at home on May 19 when thieves broke into his house and stole 3 mobile phones, a credit card, and Rs. 2000. He lodged a complaint with the police on June 7, Tuesday.

The police received a tip off that someone was trying to sell mobile phones in Saibeen Complex on June 8, Wednesday. A team of police personnel, under the guidance of Shiva Prakash and ASI H. M. Muttu, nabbed the accused.

Currently, police are interrogating the suspect, who is believed to have had an accomplice who is absconding at present. The investigating team comprises constables Santhosh Sasihitlu, Mohandas, Pradeep Rai, and Sathish M. K.

Guru Kiran has been presented in the court on June 9, Thursday.
