Belthangady, Oct 29,2016 : The uniform of Subedar Ekanath Shetty who went missing along with many others on board the IAF AN-32 aircraft over Bay of Bengal on July 22 and are untraceable since then, was handed over to his family members at Guruvayanakere on October 28, Friday by representatives of Defence Service Corps (DSC).
Fifty one year old Ekanath Shetty who had joined the Indian Army in 1985 had retired in 2009 as a Junior Commissioned Officer. He had later joined the Defence Service Corps.
Ekanath’s uniform was handed over to his wife Jayanthi Shetty. SP Bhushan Gulabrao Borase, Assistant Commissioner of Puttur Revenue Sub Division K.V. Rajendra and other police officials were present.
The contingent which arrived along with the uniform was received at Punjalakatte by Zilla Panchayat Member Tungappa Bangera, Ex-Servicemen’s Association President Kanchod Gopalakrishna, Madantyar Gram Panchayat president Gopalakrishna and Shakuntala Shetty, MLA of Puttur.
