Miscreants set fire to Konaje university campus again

Konaje, Dec 25, 2011: The people of Konaje and the concerned authorities are worried about the frequent fires around the Mangalore University campus. On Saturday, some unknown miscreants set fire to the plantation, destroying a number of trees and plants.

Local sources say that fires were lit at several places at the same time, making it very difficult for the fire fighting personnel to bring it under control.

The local people noticed that the plantation was on fire and immediately alerted the police. It took the police and the fire fighting personnel several hours to douse the flames.

The university campus occupies an area of 350 acres and unknown miscreants are constantly setting fire to it.

According to a forest officer, almost all the fires in the locality are caused by miscreants.
