Mangalore, July 2: The offices of National Insurance located at P. M. Rao Road caught fire on Thursday, July 2 during the lunch break.
The fire was first noticed in the chief’s room and is believed to have been caused by a short circuit in the room’s air-conditioning system.
The fire then spread to the rest of the room, destroying a lap top, a computer, and some furniture.
The fire service immediately rushed to the site and doused the flames. The fire service and the police evacuated people in the nearby shops out of fear that the fire might spread to other parts of the building. Fire Chief Mr. Varadarajan said that the operation lasted one hour.
