Mangaluru, Nov 29, 2018: Minister in-charge of Dakshina Kannada U.T. Khader on Wednesday announced a reward of Rs. 1 lakh to the police team that arrested the accused in the alleged gang rape at Thota Bengre beach here.
The Minister has in a statement said that the reward money will be collected from people and handed over to the police team. He lauded the police for taking the initiative to register a case and arrest the accused at the earliest. The Minister said that the government would give suitable compensation to the victim.
Meanwhile, the Panambur Police and pesonnel from the anti-rowdy squad have secured the three remaining accused in the case.
Since these accused were minor boys, the police produced them before the Juvenile Justice Board, said a communiqué.
The police arrested four accused in the case on Tuesday.
A woman who was with her companion at the beach was allegedly raped by the seven-member gang. Mangaluru Women Police are investigating the case.
