Udupi, Jan 26, 2015 : Udupi District in-charge Minister and State Minister for Urban Development Vinay Kumar Sorake hoisted national flag and received the guard of honour on the occasion of the 66th Republic Day calibrations held here on January 26, Monday under the aegis of the District Administration.
In his address, Sorake said the state government has been striving hard to provide a transparent and clean administration and also to ensure social justice. He also stated that the Congress government in the state has initiated several welfare programmes for the well being of the people.
Sorake informed on this occasion that the MinI Vidhana Saudha under construction in Udupi will soon be inaugurated. He also gave details on the benefits provided to various sections in the society under different schemes of the government. He said as many as 1326 families belonging to minority communities have benefitted from housing projects. The Minister a total of 8713 toilets have been constructed under Nirmala Bharatha Scheme and a sum of Rs 159.21 lakhs sanctioned for laying of roads measuring 747.57 kms.
On this occasion the minister said a Kendriya Vidyalaya is proposed in Udupi taluk and that ten acre land has been identified for the purpose.
Dr Vishal, Udupi Deputy Commissioner, Annamalai, SP, Yuvaraj, Udupi CMC President and several dignitaries were present.
Several outstanding government officers were honoured on the occasion. Students who won prizes in various competitions were also presented awards.
