Udupi, June 12, 2015: State Minister for Higher Education RV Deshpande inaugurated the new building of the Government Polytechnic at Shivalli in Manipal on June 12, Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, Deshpande said the government was trying its level best to provide better amenities and equipments to colleges. He exhorted the students to face the competitive world with confidence. He even stated that quality education is imparted in the 81 Government Polytechnics and 172 ITIs in the state.
On this occasion, the College management submitted a project proposal of Rs 105 lakhs towards provision of drainage facility, borewell, interlock and compound wall for the college.
Pramod Madhwaraj, Udupi MLA was the chief guest of the occasion. He requested the minister to release Rs 55 lakh for immediate facilities that need to be provided at the college.
Yuvaraj, Udupi CMC President, Ganapathi, Principal, Savitha S Kotian, ZP President and others were present.
The college has a student strength of 400 and nearly 30 staff. It also has hostel facility for girls and offers courses in electronics and communication, civil and computer science and mechanics.
