Mangaluru, May 12, 2017 : State Minister for Food and Civil Supplies U T Khader has said that legal action would follow against those who collect higher amount over and above the MRP from purchasers of bottled drinking water.
Speaking to reporters here the Minister said so far the Department has filed 12 cases after conducting 169 raids in Mangaluru. He pointed out that it had come to the notice of his department that some malls and multiplexes charged higher for bottled water which are available for less in other places. Those found flouting the rule would be fined Rs 2000 when they are caught the first time while they are likely to be jailed upto six months if caught for the same offence again, the minister said.
If anyone finds bottled water sold at higher rates then they can complain by dialling 0824-2223601 in case of Mangaluru and 080-22253500 in case of complaints in Bengaluru, the Minister informed.
