Migrants walking towards Mangaluru from Manipal stopped at Kaup

Kaup, May 17, 2020: A group of migrant workers from  Jarkhand who were keen to  return hometown and set out on foot from Manipal to Mangaluru Railway station on May 17, Sunday were stopped at Kaup and sent back.

Around 50 workers who were engaged in building construction works in Manipal had  decided to go to Mangaluru by foot  thinking there is a train arrangement from Mangaluru. Locals who saw these migrants on the National Highway 66 near Kaup Kopplangady informed the police.

 


The Kaup police who arrived at the spot enquired with the workers who said they were in trouble as no food materials have reached him since a week. The police later convinced the workers to return to Manipal.
