Mangalore, July 25, 2014: The sand rates in Dakshina Kannada district have been fixed at a meeting held in the city on July 24, Thursday under the presidentship of Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim.
As per the decision every lorry load of ordinary sand (2 unit) will cost Rs 3000 for transportation upto a distance of 10 kms, while an additional Rs 500 can be collected for every five kilometre distance covered after the first stage of 10 kms.
The price has been fixed at Rs 3500 per load of fine sand (2 unit) for the first 10 kms and Rs 500 for additional five kms travelled.
Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim presided over the meeting. He said only limited quantities of sand would be allowed to be transported across districts. The DC also made it clear that there was no shortage of sand in the district.
