Medical student attacked in hostel , robbed of cash, ATM card

Mangaluru, Dec 06, 2017: In a shocking case, a stranger who barged into the ladies hostel room of a medical student of a prestigious college at Derlakatte, tied her up and robbed her cash and ATM cards during the wee hours of December 4, Tuesday.
The incident took place when the student was alone in her room in the hostel. On hearing the knock at the door at around 4 am, thinking that her roommate had arrived, the student had opened the door. However, a stranger who barged in attacked her with an iron rod, gagged her and placed demand for Rs 5 lakh. When the student said she had no cash, he searched for her purse and robbed Rs 3000 cash apart from ATM card and also secured her PIN forcibly.
A complaint has been lodged in Ullal Police Station. Investigations are underway.
