Medical negligence blamed for death of 4 yr girl in Badiadka

Kasargod, July 23, 2014 : A four year old girl who was operated for a heart ailment a few days ago, has died reportedly due to medical negligence. The deceased girl is Geetha, daughter of Sumathi and Babu couple hailing from Peradala Koraga Colony at Badiadka.
It is said that the girl was discharged from the Pariyaram Medical College Hospital soon after the surgery with doctors recommending that she can take rest at home. But, it is learnt, she fell ill on July 20, Sunday and was rushed to the Badiadka Community Health Centre.
It is alleged that she was sent back from there without any examination. The girl’s father Babu says they then took their doctor to a private doctor, but her life could not be saved. The family alleges that medical negligence of the doctors at the government hospital was responsible for the death of Geetha.
Local residents have urged the panchayat to take action against government doctors who refuse to treat patients on time. It is also said that a woman had also died in the hospital a few days ago after she was reportedly refused treatment.
