Measures for sand extraction in DK, Udupi within 15 days : Minister C C Patil

Mangaluru, Jan 07, 2021: State Minister for Mines and Geology C C Patil has said measures would be taken to extract sand in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts within the next 15 days.

Speaking to reporters here on January 7, Thursday, the minister said measures have been taken to extract sand in the identified 30 blocks. He further added that 104 have been given permission to extract sand in CRZ area and added a few more applications will also be considered.

The Minister said strict action would be taken in cases of illegal laterite stone mining and soil transportation from government lands. He further added that all measures would be taken to check inter-state sand smuggling of sand and added that authorities have been directed to install 196 CC cameras in border areas.
