Manjanady man kidnapped for ransom; complaint lodged

Mangaluru, Aug 22, 2016: A complaint has been lodged with the Konaje Police alleging that a person identified as Mohammad Arif (29) from Manjanady has been abducted by a gang which had come by a black colour car. The complainant is Abdul Rahman, a close relative of the person who is said to have been abducted.

muhammed 22 aug 16 It is said that Arif was kidnapped while he was on way to the dockyard on August 11 at around 4.20 am, close by his house. The complainant said the family of Arif has been receiving calls from a particular number from a person named Irani who has been demanding a ransom of Rs 1.5 crore.

Konaje Police who are investigating the case have also raided a house at Bekal as part of the probe.

It is learnt that the kidnapped person who was employed abroad had returned a year ago and reportedly had some debts which were not cleared resulting in the kidnapping incident.
