Manipal: Child rights authority to ask govt to reimburse expenses of Trasi survivors

Kripa AlvaManipal, July 3, 2016: The State Commissions for Protection of Child Rights President Kripa Alva said she would try to convince the government to reimburse the medical expenses incurred following the tragic accident between a Maruti Omni and a private bus, killing eight children at Muwadi in Trasi on June 21.

Speaking after paying visit to the KMC, Manipal where two children are undergoing the treatment, Alva said at least the government would attempt to reimburse the treatment expenses incurred by six children who had a narrow escape from death.  Of the six, four have been already discharged. Of the other two, four-and-a-half-year-old Lisel Crasta is recovering in intensive care unit. While, another child Anson has been shifted to ward.

She also paid visit to families in Muwathumudi that have lost their children and expressed  condolences. She said the parents have expressed their helplessness in arranging the private vehicle to transport their kids to the school.

There was a good road, but there was no facility of school bus in the area. The private vehicle was plying since two years.  She said she would hold talks with the concerned officials regarding arranging school busses and also to avoid such mishaps in future.
