Mangaluru, Oct 29 2015: A youth has been found murdered at Moodushedde Junction near Vamanjoor in the outskirts of the city. It is believed that he was hacked to death with swords and sickles by a gang of assailants which was watching his movements since October 28, Wednesday night. The murder is learnt to have taken place during the wee hours of Thursday at around 1.30 am.
The deceased is Vijeeth (29) from Shivanagara who worked as a construction supervisor. Police said at least four cases including three cases of attempt to murder were pending against him. He was also reportedly indirectly involved in the murder of his brother in-law Upendra and rowdy sheeter Murugesh in 2011.
Sources said some previous enmity might have led to the murder as there was some discord between Vijeeth and some of his gang members.
Mangaluru Police Commissioner Murugan and senior police officials have visited the scene of the crime.
