Mangaluru: June 27, 2015: A Mangaluru woman has fallen prey to debit card cloning and has lost Rs. 24,041 rupees.
The victim has been identified as Irene D’Cunha, maintains an account at the Hampankatta branch of Bank of Baroda.
Irene got rude of shock when she received three messages on her mobile phone informing about the withdrawal of Rs. 24,041 on June 13,
Irene immediately called the customer care and asked it to block the card as she had not carried out the transaction.
After two days, she visited the Hampankatta branch and enquired about the illegal transaction. She was told that unidentified miscreants had purchased the goods and amount was transferred online by cloning her debit card.
Irene registered a complaint at local police station, the police are now invetigating the case.
