Mangaluru, June 09, 2015: Dr Mohammad Yusuf, Chairman of Karnataka State Board of Wakfs has opined that the Dakshina Kannada district has lagged behind as far as development of Wakf properties was concerned.
He was presiding over the District level Wakf Conference held at the Zeenath Baksh Yatheem Khana Hall on June 9, Monday .
Continuing, Dr Yusuf said all possible measures need to be taken to ensure that Wakf properties are not encroached or damaged. At the same time, he stated that there is some satisfaction that encroachment of Wakf properties was far less in the district.
On this occasion, he also assured to provide compound walls to the grave yards which do not have the facility in the district. Yusuf further stated that NABARD would sanction aid for development of Wakf properties. There are nearly 817 Wakf properties in the district which have been notified as of now, while some other properties are to be registered as to yet, he said.
State Minister for Health and Family Welfare UT Khader urged the Muslim community to remain united and keep away from any sort of clashes.
MLC Ivan D’Souza, SM Rasheed Haji, District Wakf Advisory Committee President, Moidin Bava, MLA of Mangaluru North, Abdullah Kunhi, Chancellor of Yenepoya University, Ibrahim Kodijal, MUDA Chairman and many others were present.
The function was earlier inaugurated by Twaka Ahmed Musliyar, Khazi of Mangaluru. Ullal Khazi Sayyed Fazal Koyamma Tangal offered the dua.
