Mangaluru, July 06, 2019: Vikaas Group of Institutions, Mangaluru, organized ‘Vruksha Vikaasa’ as part of Vanamahotsava on its campus on 6th July 2019. The occasion was blessed by the august presence of His Excellency, Shri. Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya, Hon’ble Governor, Nagaland.

Padmashree awardee Smt. Salumarada Thimmakka, Chief Guest of the function, urged each student to  plant at least one sapling and continued,"If you protect the environment, the environment will protect you" and she blessed all the students for their success.


Sri. Nalin Kumar Kateel, Member of Parliament, Dakshina Kannada, Guest of Honour,appreciated the  efforts of Vikaas Group of Institutions in teaching the students about the significance of nature along with academic studies. India is the only country which is protecting the nature.He invoked the students to follow the ideals of the country and protect the environment.


Sri. Krishna J. Palemar, former minister of State of Karnataka, Chairman, Vikaas Education Trust, Guest of Honour,in his speech said that the college has taken various steps to implement the activities connected with Swaach Bharath, tree plantation ,environment protection and yoga to make the students aware of the importance of  protecting Indian culture and heritage.


Sri. P. Shridhar, Regional Forest Officer, Mangaluru, Guest of Honour, said that people used to cultivate,conserve and consume in olden days  but the current society only consumes without cultivating.We should have concern towards nature,he added.


Dr. Bharath Shetty, MLA, Mangaluru North, presided over the function and said that the steps taken by Salumarada Thimmakka for the  awareness of protecting the nature and the trees are appreciable and added that if we protect the environment we will be blessed by the environment and also urged the students to celebrate their birthdays by planting saplings.


Planting saplings in the premises of Vikaas Group of Institutions Campus, dignitaries and students marked the celebration.


Padmashree awardee Salumarada Thimmakka and JEE Advanced rank holder Mr. Rashmith S., student of Vikaas PU College, 2017-19 batch, were felicitated by the dignitaries for their excellent achievements.


Sri J Koragappa and Sri.Suraj Kumar Kallya, Trustees, Vikaas Education Trust,Mr. Parathasarathi Palemar, Coordinator, Vikaas Group of Institutions,Dr. Ananth Prabhu G, Advisor, Vikaas Edu Solutions,Dr. Suneel B. M., Principal, Vikaas PU College,, Dr. Ajay Thakur, Principal, Vikaas College of Physiotherapy, Mrs. Ayshwarya K., Principal, Vikaas First Grade College and Commerce Coordinator, Vikaas PU College and , Prof. T. Rajaram Rao, Academic Director, Vikaas PU College,Harikrishna Bantwal,member of Bharathiya Janatha Party were present on the occasion.


Dr. Manjula A. Rao, Dean, Vikaas Group of Institutions, welcomed the gathering and Laxmeesha Bhat,  Lecturer in Sanskrit,Vikaas PU College, proposed vote of thanks. Mr. Ajith Rai, Lecturer in Kannada, Vikaas PU College, compered the programme.
