Mangaluru, Dec 10, 2014 : It is good governance and administration that can help all citizens of the land to lead a life of dignity, safety and security, said Justice S.R. Nayak, Chairman of Law Commission, Karnataka and former Chairman of State Human Rights Commission.
He was speaking after inaugurating the UN Human Rights Day 2014 programme organised at the DC office here on December 10, Wednesday. Nayak further stressed the need for each and every individual in the society to work towards protection of Human Rights.
Elements that try to disrupt peace and harmony should not be allowed to raise their heads, he observed.
A.B. Ibrahim, Deputy Commissioner who presided over the function urged the government to do everything possible on its part to ensure that human rights are safeguarded.
R Hithendra, Mangaluru City Police Commissioner and S.P. Chengappa, President of Dakshina Kannada Bar Association also spoke on the occasion. ZP CEO Tulasi Maddineni, SP Dr Sharanappa and several others were present.
