Mangaluru, Nov 16, 2015 : The Mangaluru Rural Police have arrested three persons in connection with the case wherein five textile merchants who were travelling by a Scorpio vehicle were robbed of cash of Rs 1.3 lakhs apart from other goods worth Rs 1.44 lakhs during the wee hours of November 15, Sunday. Meanwhile search is on for two other accused.
The incident had reportedly taken place near the Bajal Railway Cross when the vehicle in which Bhurra Ram from Rajasthan and his friends were travelling from Mangaluru towards BC Road was intercepted by four unidentified assailants.
It has been gathered that the assailants who brandished knives and pistols, robbed the cash, cell phones and other valuables from the merchants before fleeing from the spot.
The suspicion is that one Bhanwar Maharaj who was driving the vehicle might have abetted the crime as he had driven the vehicle towards Kankanady Railway station instead of towards BC Road.
Further investigations are underway.
